Coast and Castles south 200 mile challenge
In June of 2011 Howe Distribution will sponser Glen Howe our distribution manager will attempt
to ride the Coast and Castles south route in memory of Joe Holborn and in aid of the Chrons and Colitis charity. The ride
is over 200 miles from the North East to Edinburgh Castle.
Glen explains why this ride is so important:
Two years ago I lost a friend Joe Holborn that I had known all my life. He had Ulcerative Colitis and it
hadn’t been picked up after months of visiting the GP. Joe died at just 30 leaving a wife a son and another son on the
way. So for me to do the ride in memory of Joe is an honour to me. The pain that I will be feeling on this ride isn’t
a patch on what Joe had suffered or what his family had gone through.
I’m also riding for
the Chrons and Colitis charity a charity that is no were near the size of some other charities but need all the help they
can get. If things had been different for Joe then they would have been there to help him out in any way they could but that
isn’t the case. If I can raise some money for the charity and make people a bit more aware of Ulcerative Colitis and
Colitis in general then maybe it can be picked up earlier and families needn’t go through the same pain that Joes have.
This is going to be a really hard task for me as I’m not a long distance rider and more
of a trails rider but in the end it will be worth it if I can raise awareness and also help a charity that needs all the help
they can get.
